Lectures

This section of the web site, contains a series of lectures given to students doing their Masters in Humanitarian Sciences at the Paris XII university, Créteil. These lectures deal with the analysis of the enviroment, vulnerability and risks. Climatic changes and other environmental problems are the causes of hazards, which result in disasters and the worst affected are the poorest who are the first victims.  These lectures analyse the different disasters during these last few years and take through a discussion on the link between environment, vulnerability and disasters. The understanding of this link is important to  give the appropriate response in situations of emergency and at the same time find the right solution to the help the poulation to become resilient..

For an effective Disaster Risk Reduction, it is important to understand the factors that contribute to create disasters and the resilient capacities of the poor to get back to normal life.
